Story Map: Robbing off Tamil economy by military stealth

A military that controlled the Tamil north of Sri Lanka with menacing hardware is continuing its occupation with a seemingly 'harmless weaponry' along the main highway that runs across the terrain. It is of a commercial nature that has taken away the livelihood of a war battered nation. From the outskirts of Vavunia, 250 kilometres away from the capital Colombo, to the northern tip of the Jaffna peninsula, the A9 road is dotted with military run business siphoning off much needed finances away from the region.

The following photographic journey by a journalist on the ground along the route, clearly illustrates the stark nature of militarisation stealthily imposed upon a war affected nation longing for justice and right to land.
