“Deep and unusual” lacerations on Sri Lanka mass grave bones (VIDEO)

Deep lacerations have been detected on human skeletal remains recovered from a mass burial site in war torn northern Sri Lanka.

Experts investigating the Mannar SATHOSA mass grave describe the deep cuts as “unusual”.

“The forensic experts and I collectively observed unusual cut marks visible on some of the bones,” Archeologist Raj Somadeva told JDS by telephone.

“We have also identified at least five children from among the 58 individual skeletons unearthed so far.”

Speaking to journalists at the mass grave site about the latest findings in 42 days of excavations, Professor Somadeva said the cause and time of lacerations can only be determined by thorough forensic examination.☐
